Doing Better Than Excellence has been recognized across multiple media platforms for our commitment to community impact, service, and meaningful collaboration.
Over the years, DBE has worked alongside organizations, community partners, businesses, and local leaders throughout Cuyahoga County to support initiatives that strengthen individuals, families, and communities. These partnership and the stories behind the work have helped bring greater visibility to our mission and the people we serve.
From media features and community recognition to collaborative initiatives and special events, each spotlight reflects a larger story: people coming together to create change, restore dignity, and do better than excellence.
Our 4th Annual #FillThe Truck
A significant moment in DBE’s story came in 2019, when Channel 5 played an instrumental role in helping amplify our work and connect our mission with the broader community. Through that increased visibility and community support, DBE was able to assist more than seven shelters, extending resources and support to individuals and families experiencing difficult circumstances.
6th Annual #FillTheTruck — Another Successful Year
Our 6th Annual #FillTheTruck event was another incredible success, bringing the community together to support individuals and families in need.
We are grateful to Spectrum 1 for helping shine a light on the event and the impact made possible through our volunteers, partners, donors, and supporters.
Each year, #FillTheTruck reminds us what can happen when a community comes together with purpose turning generosity into real support for those who need it most.
Expanding Community Partnerships
In August 2021, Cleveland 19 News highlighted a community vaccination initiative on Cleveland’s East Side focused on reaching vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pop-up clinic brought together community leadership, outreach, and health resources to help make vaccinations more accessible in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood. Venica Evans was featured in the story, sharing the personal motivation behind her commitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable circumstances.
For DBE, meaningful impact has always included building relationships, expanding community partnerships, and connecting people with resources that can strengthen their lives and communities.
