We all wear masks. But what happens when the mask hides more than it reveals? Behind every smile and every appearance of strength may be a story of grief, trauma, domestic violence, homelessness, or battles no one else can see.

Beyond the Mask: An Unmasking Experience brings together fashion, art, creativity, and powerful storytelling to challenge perceptions, break the silence, and inspire healing. This is more than an event. It is a movement with a purpose.

Through this partnership, DBE and Gideon's Army are joining forces to amplify awareness, strengthen community connections, and encourage meaningful conversations about trauma, resilience, and healing.

Together, we envision opportunities to extend these conversations into schools, neighborhoods, and community spaces, reaching individuals and families whose stories too often go unheard.

 

At the heart of this experience is DBE's Therapeutic Release Program, which uses artistic mask-making, personal reflection, and guided conversations to help individuals express what words often cannot. Through creativity, supportive environments, and community resources, we seek to create opportunities for veterans, domestic violence survivors, individuals experiencing homelessness, youth, and families to feel seen, heard, and supported. The goal isn't just to create a mask. It's to begin taking it off.
